I have a 14 year old female cat. I had her spayed as a kitten. She has been in good health with yearly vet check ups and is up to date with all her shots. She has a problem recently with being bound up. The vets office prescribed special food and said mix pumpkin with her food. This works somewhat but she does not care for the pumpkin. The vet also said to mix metamucil with her food. I also give her milk, when she decides to drink it. Is there anything I can give her to keep her from getting bound up?

I think that ur cat may be had megacolon, it makes ur cat difficult to poo. Cisaprid medicine can solve constipation problem which activating smooth muscle contraction on the intestine. If the condition not improve may be u can ask for colectomy, cut some part of colon which can't work well or dilatated.Ur vet choice is right, matamucil is given to support fiber consumption so ur cat can poo better.

i have found that rubbing some mineral oil on the paws helps them to poop. or give some wet food for a few days and that will help as well.
