I took in a stray cat about 5 yrs. ago. She had been spayed, and looked like she had been cared for. I believe she's an older cat. She managed to break her leg one day, about 8 months ago. We could not afford surgery and had to opt for a six week splint. It did not heal right, but she gets around fine with it and tries to use it. She has at times decided not to use her litter box, but the last month or so, she won't use it at all unless we're watching. It's the carpet or the tub. To make things worse she tends to have a runnier stool. I'm at my wits end. Is she telling me she's not doing as well as I think?
