Our dog gets car sick... what should we do?

I hope you can help us. Our 1 yr dog always gets car sick no matter what the conditions are. We have tried not feeding her before any long trip That does help. Is there any medication that we can give her before any car trip.
Someone recommeded putting her in a crate. So she is not able to see the movement of cars, etc. Thank you for your help
