Animal Health - Blood in stools

What does it mean when a 2 1/2 month mini dachsund has blood in her stools? The stools are getting runny but still have a shape. She hasn't eaten anything different from her previous owner - we received the dog food (Purina Puppy Chow) from them. She has an appointment with the vet in about a week.
